On July 3, 2024, Alan Salbiev, Vice President for International Technological Cooperation at the BRICS International Alliance of Strategic Projects, participated as a key speaker in the “Information and Digital Security” session held within the BRICS Civil Forum.
During the session, experts from Russia, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, the UAE, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, India, and other countries discussed crucial aspects of developing a shared information space. The focus was on creating an effective tool to ensure human and citizen access to knowledge, meaning, and values of national and global culture, realizing the right of each individual to the highest attainable level of cultural and educational development.
“Our Alliance consistently advocates for strengthening international cooperation in the field of information technology. Now the information space is a tool for shaping public opinion and managing key processes within states and societies”, stated Larisa Zelentsova, President of the BRICS International Alliance for Strategic Projects.
“In an interconnected and interdependent world, any format, including the BRICS, must strive to minimize transaction costs. Recognizing that the BRICS is the future of humanity, any projects implemented within this framework that require significant transaction costs would be disadvantageous to all participating countries”, noted Alan Salbiev in his presentation.
On behalf of the Alliance, proposals were formulated for further expert development: ensuring the interoperability of digital landscapes across BRICS member countries, further developing the format of the BRICS based on a network-centric system, and identifying seven priority projects with the potential for rapid success.

The BRICS Civil Forum serves as a discussion and presentation platform for civil society representatives from BRICS member countries, as well as invited countries representing the global majority. Its purpose is to discuss citizen proposals regarding priorities for the BRICS agenda and to present civil initiatives within this framework.
