On June 3, 2024, a meeting of representatives of the International Alliance of Strategic Projects BRICS with Nikosi Zwelivelile Mandela (grandson of Nelson Mandela) took place.
At the meeting, various issues related to interaction between Russia and South Africa were discussed, including:
- mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres,
- investment partnership,
- implementation of promising joint projects in the fields of education, sports, construction and modernization of infrastructure, agriculture and healthcare.
Following the meeting and negotiations between Nikosi Zwelivelile Mandela and Larisa Zelentsova, President of the International Alliance of Strategic Projects BRICS, a memorandum on the development of international cooperation was signed.
Nikosi Zwelivelile Mandela expressed the opinion that sports competitions between the BRICS countries, as well as participation in the BRICS Games, could become a new impetus for the development of international cooperation.
When asked what it was like to be the grandson of a great man, he replied: “It’s very difficult. Because even as a child, he took “Vivat Mandela” personally, and then it turned out that they were talking about his famous grandfather. And he has to prove his own worth with his whole life. Today, Nikosi Zwelivelile Mandela has been a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Africa for 10 years and is doing everything in his power to ensure that South Africa develops.
