Judo week in India

Mumbai: Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Mumbai, a Russian house in Mumbai and VEB.rf organized “Judo's Week in India”.
The Russian side traditionally organizes such sports competitions in India under the auspices of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa).
In previous years, many events were organized, including football tournaments, volleyball and badminton.
At the invitation of Weba.rf, a team of active professional athletes and judo coaches from Russia arrived in India. Coaches held training seminars and open sessions for Indian students. Russian and Indian athletes took part in sparring. The main event “Judo Week”, the actual two-day tournament, was organized on October 7-8 in Mumbai. The competition was attended by a total of five teams representing the five countries of BRICS.
“The expansion of interaction in the field of sports between the BRICS countries, in particular between Russia and India, will inevitably lead to strengthening ties between our countries. The leaders of our countries traditionally pay great attention to the development of sports, especially within the framework of BRICS, ”said Alexei Surovtsev, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Mumbai. He especially thanked the organizers of the event from the Indian side.
The head of the VEB.rf representative office in Mumbai, Alexander Perminov emphasized the importance of sports tournaments for the development of relations between countries: “It is prestigious for us to organize sports events under the auspices of BRICS. Sport is an integral part of life, and it helps to expand the horizons of cooperation between countries, ”he emphasized.
According to the results of the competition, all teams and participants in the tournament were awarded with cups, medals and registered certificates.
